Time that counts work
Billable time is your time at the desk, minus the time you were away. Your time records stay on this computer.
- Away is not billed
- After a few minutes without keyboard or mouse (five, unless you choose otherwise), the timer pauses; the session stays open and the paused minutes are not billed. It resumes when you do.
- Work with no keystrokes
- A render in progress, playback and scrubbing keep it running, and on Resolve's Color page it waits longer, because grading panels send no keyboard or mouse input.
- Nothing it did not see
- With the app and its Timer Bar closed, time is not counted. A timer left running ends at the last moment it saw you, and asks what to do when you come back.
- Breaks
- If you want one, a reminder after an hour of unbroken work, with music that fades in if you choose some.
Starts with your work
Start it with one click, or let it follow what you have open.
- Projects
- Time goes to a project. The first time you start the timer on a timeline it asks which project; after that it starts straight away.
- With Resolve
- It knows the timeline open in Resolve and the project it bills to. Turn on automatic tracking and work on a timeline starts the timer, and switching timelines starts the next session.
- Other post apps
- Time in Premiere, After Effects, Media Composer, Nuke, Flame, Baselight, Nucoda or Mistika can get its own line in each session, if you switch it on.
- The Timer Bar
- A small strip that stays on top of every window, with the project, the live clock, Start and Stop, and a budget bar that fills as you work.
Where the time went
Read your time back by day, by week or by month, and put it right.
- Day
- A lane per project, each session a block, idle time hatched. The sessions below say what each one earned.
- Week and Months
- A bar a day against your workday, and twelve months of billable time and money, by project or by client.
- The split
- Each session splits into what you were doing in Resolve: color, conform and edit, Fusion, audio, stills and render, plus prep in Konformista.
- Corrections
- Change a session's start, length, note or tags, take it off the bill, or add time the timer missed. Undo is one click away.
Rates and budgets
- Rates
- Hourly, or a day rate with your working day; in euros, US dollars, pounds, Australian or Canadian dollars. A different rate for a project, or for an activity, such as color above conform.
- Rounding
- Bill time exactly, or to 6, 15 or 30 minutes, to the nearest or rounding up, session by session.
- Budgets
- An hours or money budget per project, with a bar that turns amber at 75% and red at 90%, in the app and on the Timer Bar.
Invoices
- Ready to invoice
- What each client owes you, project by project, at your rates. One invoice can cover every project a client has.
- Formats
- A finished PDF with your logo, taxes and discount, and a SEPA scan-to-pay QR code or a payment link. Or a CSV for Xero, QuickBooks Online or any accounting software, and a time sheet of every session.
- Never twice
- Invoiced time is marked, so the same hour can't go on two invoices by mistake. A draft keeps its time free until you issue it.
- Getting paid
- Every invoice listed as open, overdue or paid, beside what is still outstanding.
Requirements
- Computer
- macOS or Windows.
- Resolve
- Not needed. With Resolve open, the timer follows its timelines.
- Trial
- 7 days.
- Licence
- A licence of its own. Konformista and Kontroller do not include the Timer.
